In the fall of 2019 I was presented with the option of an implant as a solution for a badly fractured tooth. As a late 50s, ultra fussy, pia engineering type male I had some reservations/questions. Was my body capable of accepting an implant and able to “heal” appropriately at this age? The tooth was located in my smile region, as an engineer with a compulsive eye for symmetry and flaws would it satisfy my aesthetic needs? Would I have the patience/time to navigate a multi-step one year process? Well...one year later I have a fully functional tooth that I never detect/know/feel is there...feels just like one of my natural teeth. The shape and colour are a perfect match to my adjacent teeth - wife couldn’t tell which one was the implant. The only part of the process I found to be a bit of a distraction was wearing a “flipper”(temporary/removable partial) while the initial anchor/implant healed into place - very minor vs the benefit of a “new tooth and root”. I am amazed by the process and the result - kinda like turning back time. Dr Phalguni explained every step, answered/tolerated every question and I felt he was ultra cautious and precise throughout the process. No pain no complications!
